As part of the launch of the Cultural Olympiad, a series of events running up to the start of the 2012 games; artists Michael Shaw and Patrick Thursby along with the Kinetica Gallery London present Audio Olympics 2009. Four pro-road bikes secured onto turbo-trainer rolling roads are wired directly to the drive system of four cassette decks, which in turn are connected to their own amplification systems. To put it simply, the faster you pedal the faster the music plays. For Olympic Enterprise Day, each Tutor group represented a country bidding for the Olympic games and each country had their own national anthem recorded to tape. Races comprised of four countries racing their national anthems against each other at one time. The anthems durations were timestretched and compressed to 3 minutes, or thereabouts, to keep it as sporting as possible. This event took place at Thomas Tallis School on Thursday the 9th of July between 10:00am and 3:00pm as part of National Shine week.
